Tours & Outings

I have lead a weekend to one of South Africa’s best birding sites: Nylsvley Nature Reserve

When: 29 & 30 November 2014.
Times: Saturday early morning to Sunday late afternoon.
Where: Nylsvley Nature Reserve, situated between Modimolle (Nylstroom) and Mookgopong (Naboomspruit), Limpopo.
What: The extensive floods during March 2014 promise that Nylsvley will attract a prolific variety of birds in the coming spring and summer. During this weekend outing we will bird both Nylsvley’s bushveld habitats as well as the floodplain at Vogelfontein.
Transport: Transport will be provided in a custom-made Isuzu truck from either Midrand or Pretoria.
Accommodation: Nylsvley’s comfortable “dormitories”.
Attendance: Limited to 10 participants.
Catering: All meals are included.
Fee: R 2 200 per person sharing

Wilderness Experience – Pilanesberg National Park

When: April or May 2015 – dates to be announced.
Times: Friday 14h00 to Sunday 14h00
Where: Wilderness area of Pilanesberg National Park
What: This is a true wilderness experience in a ‘Big Five’ national park. We will observe mammals and watch birds on foot!
The camp site has no infrastructure and is not protected by the safety of a fence! The canopy of a tree and starry sky is your roof. You will walk and sleep in areas where animals such as lion, elephant and rhino roam freely – there are none of the daily luxuries such as toilets, fridges, roofs and showers. This weekend provides a unique experience, a better awareness of the dwindling wilderness. There is something very humbling about sitting in the wild, unprotected by fences and walls, under a vast canopy of stars, listening to the calls of the night!
Attendance: Limited to 6 participants.
Catering: All meals are included, but please provide your own snacks and alcoholic refreshments.
Fee: To be announced
Further info and Enquiries: Please email me.

Please watch this space for further tours to the Kalahari, Namibia and other areas of special birding interest.
